Mother and Child Figure

Locally harvested and processed on Manitoulin Island by Anishinaabekwe Shaelynn Recollet under the mentorship and guidance of David Migwans. Each bowl has been carefully shaped, formed, and painted in order to depict imagery based on the artist's memory, stories passed down, or teachings.

Mother and Child features two bird-like figures. The mother figure watches over the child figure nestled in the nook of mother's left side. Signature to the artist's style are heart beat lines that are painted onto the figures and a landscape/treeline is painted on the mother's back; a provider and protector for her child.
