Breaking the Chains

Breaking The Chains is a report on how Anishinaabemowin is essential to building thriving First Nations communities. It suggests that to combat the, at the time, high illiteracy rates, a coordinated effort from the Federal Government and FN communities.

The report goes into extensive detail on which languages are spoken in the home to why they aren’t involved with literacy, and even skills in native culture. This looks at First Nations Literacy as Indigenous literacy, a national issue treated as such, there’s the perspective of many different peoples inside.
